The MMRB is an administrative board charged with the responsibility to evaluate a soldier's ability or inability to physically perform duties required of his/her Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) in a worldwide field environment.

All soldiers with a permanent "3" or "4" in one or more of the Physical Profiles Serial (PULHES), must be referred for evaluation to an MMRB.

Soldiers with temporary profiles are not seen by the MMRB board, until or unless the profile becomes permanent.

The Military Personnel Services Division appoints the MMRB which consists of five voting members, President (Colonel), Medical Officer (Lieutenant Colonel), and two or three board members (Lieutenant Colonels), one NCO (Sergeant Major) (enlisted only).

The following are within the scope of the MMRB's recommendations:

Retain soldier or officer in current MOS-fully deployable
Reclassify because soldier or officer cannot perform MOS
Probationary period not to exceed six months
Refer the soldier or officer to the Army's Physical Disability Board

The following are MMRB restrictions pending final action:

Soldier or officer cannot reenlist or attend service schools
Soldier or officer cannot deploy or PCS

The MMRB Convening/Approval Authority is the General Courts Martial convening authority.

MMRB's are mandatory for the following situations:

Soldiers issued profile today, scheduled to appear before the next scheduled board

MMRB convenes monthly to quarterly depending on the soldiers requiring boarding
Personnel Management Branch, Military Personnel Services Division, prepares a memorandum announcing the date, time, and place the board will convene
