If I give a hooker money and say it's for something other than sex, is it still a crime?

I watch cops a lot and I like those sting episodes where some lady cop pretends to be a hooker and then they arrest the client.

Can't someone just avoid all the trouble by telling the hooker that they money is being given to them for another purpose that would be legal and then the sex is free. If the hooker was an undercover wouldn't they have to let the client go?

I'm not planning on this I just like finding the answers to these type of questions.
 
It might get you out of losing in court, but you will still be arrested. You will still probably get Hep B or C, and possibly HIV.
