right now i have a kenwood 1800w amp running my 2 P3. ( someone told me that kenwood over-rates their power on their amps is that true?) and i i buy a JL audio kicker or rockford 2000 amp. would it make my P3 louder?

You'll probably notice a difference.

The general rule for adding output is, a 3db gain every time you double the power. Also, a 3db gain is also considered to be a doubling of the intensity of the sound wave.

To prove the overrating part, check this link. http://www.caraudiomag.com/reviews/caep_0811_kenwood_kac_9104d_review/index.html In November, Car Audio and Electronics came up with similar numbers to mine in there test of the Kenwood KAC-9104D

that is the amps max power yes they do over rate there amp you want to look for rms not max power and yes it would be louder.

that's like a 1 watt light bulb isn't as bright as a 20watt one.

go with the rockford 2000 amp. that is 2000watts rms (not max) and even at that RF under rates there amps!
