She and her boyfriend who I saw one time prior for five minutes were talking about marriage so we told her it would be a pre marriage gift. Her boyfriend told her since she didn't have her license yet that he had to put the car in his name, then two weeks later they split up and he refused to give her the car. Me and my wife gave her the money not him. The check was in her name and the gift was for her not someone we didn't even know. He has now sold the car and kept the cash. Do I have a chance to get the money back by taking him to small claims court in California?
