If I did an art and design foundation course, could I focus solely on photography?

I am going to apply to london college of fashion to do a fashion photography degree. I currently doing A levels and have gotten an A in photography during my first year, so I should come out with a good grade. The course says it requires me to do an art and design foundation course before the degree, are there any ways around this? If my portfolio was outstanding would they make exceptions? And if not, could I focus solely on fine art photography? What does the foundation course involve?

Sorry there are lots of questions, if you don't know the answer to all, but do know what the course involves i'd love to hear.
Thanks in advance!
