If i connect my laptop to my TV with an hdmi will sound come out of the tv?

Ive connected my laptop to my tv before but sound wouldnt come out. so if i connected it with an hdmi cable would sound come out? If not please tell me how to make sound come out. THANKS!
If not HDMI will this work?
