If I change to a different mobile phone network can I keep the same number?

I was thinking of changing from T-mobile to O2 because O2 seems to be much better value for money.
I have an unlocked phone that I got from Carphone Warehouse so there won't be any problem with using a different sim card
 
Yes you can keep the same number. You may have to ring T-mobile to get something called a PAC code which allows you to change networks but keep the same number....
I did this, as I was planning to switch from Orange, but when I rang & asked for my PAC code they offered me the same (cheaper) deal the other network were offering me, to keep me as an orange customer - result!! :)
