If I buy the lg versa from amazon.com, do I have to have Internet on it through verizon?

I currently have the Envy 2, my inside screen is turning all black so I need a new phone. I don't have insurance and I don't have an upgrade. I don't wan to go pay $400 either for a new phone because I'm already in a contract with my parents. So I would like to buy the Lg Versa off amazon and pay the activation fee at verizon. Would they change my plan? I don't want the data plan I don't want internet in my phone.
