...take it to a BMW dealership? I want a beamer so bad, but i was wondering if i could take it to a regular mechanic to get it fixed if something went wrong with the car. Dealership prices are crazy big. Thank you, Joe

My husband has an '85 BMW that he drives back & forth to work. (Sometimes he drives; sometimes I have to pick him up en route!) Over the years, he has taken it to the dealership, had it worked on by a local mechanic, and worked on it himself. If you have a good mechanic, I think he could take care of your problems with the car -- you WILL have problems! And the parts are expensive.

Good luck!

NO! Ever! they have certified technicians for a reason... if you ever and i do mean ever want it to work/perform correctly after you it first worked on.... you have to and i cant stress it enough take it to a dealer!
or good luck.

Ok #1 don't ever say "crazy big", lol. As your local mechanic if he has any experience working on them or if he thinks could. If he knows anything about them he should be able to take care of the majority of problems that you may encounter.
