The strong survive and the weak fade away. Who will be the next American Automobile Super Power?

Ford has been gaining market share the past few months. Can't imagine a CH 11 would reverse that.

I believe the market will change quickly with the emergence of electric only model cars like Fisker Automotive and Tesla Motors. The next automobile super power might be a new car maker from the 21st century!

I also believe there will be strong competition from other markets like several Chinese brands who wish to enter the US market. The Korean brands have either proven themselves or disappeared. (Daewoo's can still be seen on the streets though because they're rebadged as Chevy Aveo and Kia is under the Hyundai umbrella now)

Will Ford grow in power? That depends. Their American line-up is good, but not great. The Focus needs to be re-"focused." Its facing stiff competition in its segment. The Fusion is great but its not over the edge quite yet. It still lacks something to bring it there. A nice car under the Focus would really put them in the green right now. Their truck line-up is great as always, but I could see some trimming might be needed. Their hybrids are great, they just need to put them into better vehicles. The Escape isn't exactly the best in its class and neither is its luxury twin. I do have to give props where they're due; the Fusion hybrid is a winner in my book.

I can see them with a slight lead over some other companies, but it depends on how competitive they want to be, because I could also see them as the last giant waiting to fall if they take a few misguided steps.
