If economy is bad and hyundai making huge profits, then why GM and Chrysler

given bailout money? On one hand people say economy is bad and consumer is not spending at all. And that many businesses and retailers are suffering. However, companies like hyundai and walmart and many others are showing huge rise in demand, revenues and profits.

So was the GM and Chrysler bailout really necessary taking into account companies like Hyundai are prospering? Billions of taxpayer dollars poured into GM/Chrysler and they still filed bankruptcy.

The point here is that if company A is doing bad and Company B is doing well the same time, then company A shouldn't be given government help since it is doing the same business as company B.

its obvious. hyundai has the cheapest new cars. i think you can buy one of its models less than $10000 (accent). Also its other upscale models like sonata, azera, etc etc cost far less than camry or accord, offering the same quality. Now they have even made a luxury model named genesis, which has 375 horsepower engine and from inside it feels like a bmw or audi. But its price is way less than bmw or audi.

So obviously they will profit in recession.
