It's not that simple!
Strategically, it's better to hold onto the untapped oil until the prices go even higher and/or we're in a crisis (say another oil embargo) and really need it.
Okay, now let's stop this divisive "smart enough" BS. We're still all Americans whether we have a D or an R next our names.
BTW, while we're on that subject of D's and R's, perhaps it might be enlightening to you to know that most of our elected leaders who fight tooth & nail on the floor of the Congress, can still go out afterwards and tip back a few drinks together and get along fine. We should be doing the same, not throwing stupid insults back and forth - that accomplishes nothing, and only moves us closer to civil war.
