If Christians try to convert people all over the world, why do they whine

Many people place a lot of stock in having numbers on their side.

They'll profess that being the largest religion or denomination doesn't mean anything, that the truth isn't dependent on a head count, but deep down I think it serves to validate their beliefs, to assuage their self-doubt. It seems to be a human trait to want to be in the majority, to belong, to be on the 'right side'; losing members means the out group is being successful, that they are a threat.
