Perhaps the reason is that China is not poor. China surpassed the United States in 2009 to become the largest car market in the world with 13.6 million vehicles sold. An even higher number of vehicles will be sold in the full year 2010. China's highways are jammed with tens of millions of middle class motorists. America's car market shrank during the recession, but China's demand for cars grew tremendously.
