For 8 years, Fox News claimed that Bush was a "compassionate conservative." However, if he were the President of Venezuela and he decided to expand government control of medical care more than any president in the previous 40 years, double the size of the Department of Education, vastly expanded the regulatory state with Sarbanes-Oxley, nationalize half the banks, and bailed out the car industry, wouldn't he have been called a socialist?
This is the man who many Americans still pretend was a free market advocate. Might Bush have actually been a far-left president, considering that his policies were to the left of Hugo Chavez?
