If this has been going on for 5 years then its not just a simple problem. You need to see a doctor, preferrably a rheumatologist, to do a full panel of bloodwork to see what is going on.

up until you also mentioned what was going on with your legs, i was thinking a possible rotator cuff issue since it IS possible to have problems in both shoulders at the very same time? but with the addition of the leg burning, i am now thinking a possible spinal issue of some degree? ONLY because what you started out with can do what you described if there is like impingement within any of the c spine nerves or herniation. then it appeared to actually progress to the burning in your legs now too? depending upon just what can be wrong up in the c spine CAN create issues too in the lower torso as well as 'something" would just naturally tend to progress when its spinal related? its just how spinal stuff IS.

the thing here is, it would almost have to be something impacting your actual spinal cord in order to actually create both upper and lower symptoms? or you actually can have both a c spine issue and also problems within that lumbar too that would show the very same types of symptoms to a certain degree? if this were me, i would seek out your primary for a full eval on any of your symptoms, then see about getting a referral from the primary for at the very least here a full spinal contrasted MRI, just to fully check out all possible levels where just about anything can and does happen to us.

there are just sooo many real 'possibles" that can occur within that spinal column that can also impact the cord level too that this just really should be fully checked out. once you get this one MRI done, whatever does or does not show up there would kind of dictate any next steps in the whole diagnostic mode you are currently in? that spinal needs ruling in or ruling out as the possible "source" of the symptoms. cleared or included type of thing?

it really does appear that you have at least some level of real 'nerve' issues, the question is just what and where are they being impacted? and finding THAT out just will take some forms of real testing. are you having ANY actual 'sensory losses' either constant or intermittant? any numbness or tingling within ANY fingers, or anything that is impacting particular fingers when your arms are down or ONLY when your arms are raised up? do you have ANY neck pain or upper back pain? do the muscles feel overly tight in the places i just asked about? any weakness in the hands/arms or the legs?

just what did that doc say about this when you saw him when all this started back then? you never mentioned what HIS real impressions were then? did he ever actually do anything at all even a possible x ray on that c spine area? while an x ray cannot see down to where you seriously NEED to actually see within the deeper spinal level(down to cord and nerve roots), it would at least have shown possible herniations and spinal alignment within that c spine level.

i would get this whole spinal MRIed tho(only because you have both upper and lower torso included with symptoms). this just would be the more "likely" area of the underlying symptoms than anyplace else right now. like i mentioned above, it just needs to be cleared or included. this is also a really good form of a 'baseline' test too. the MRI results will just kind of dictate what any next steps should be from there. i would make an appt with your primary here soon and just get this whole diagnostic process rolling. its gone on wayy too long already with no real explanation. just make certain he orders an actual 'contrasted' MRI since that contrast just really does help in better defining certain issues and highlighting findings that can at times be somewhat hidden even with the best clearest MRIs. this is just seriously NEEDED at this point in this whole thing. i do hope they can at least find the source of the main problem with the MRI. it is just trying to really find those good reasons for our symptoms that can make you crazy the longer it takes. please let me know exactly what you find out,K? and make certain to ALWAYS obtain your very own copies of ANY and all testing results just so YOU have them and can also read thru them yourself. you do have a right to them.
