if an airplane and a car are going at the same speed would the airplane reach

the destinastion faster? Me and my friend were discussing about how if a plane is up in the air flying and a car down below and both going at the same speed. I might sound stupid but isnt the airplane still going to cover more land and get to the destination faster???? Please help.
