If an advanced E.T. civilization regarded humans as we do ants, would they simply...

...stomp us? If an E.T. civilization with a billion years of history encounted human civilization, why would we get any respect from them? Would they be considered to be gods by humans if we had the chance to think that much before we were stomped?

Your question raises a number of questions in my mind, such as, what does it mean to be advanced, and what is our relationship to ants and why do some people "simply stomp" them while others respect them.

And also, which humans are we talking about here? They might encounter American civilization (I'll resist the temptation to put that in quotes), which as a whole has little respect for the nobler human values, or they might encounter a traditional culture that lives much more in harnony with Nature.

My point being, if the E.T. civilization is really advanced, they would be moral enough to have respect for all living things, regardless of how superior they themselves were. And how much we were respected by them would depend a lot on how much respect we gave them.
