It would be impossible for you to achieve these things without support. So simply, you wouldn't be able to, whether you wanted to do it or not. So the question is irrelevant.

It's not just a matter of kudos though, it's also about the natural urge to share your life with others. It's what humans do. Mind you, I often go on hikes on my own and don't take pictures or talk about it to anyone so I suppose that fucks my point a bit .

I can't think why anyone would want to scale Everest, but it seems to be the done thing these days so I threw it in. Space I would definitely want to do, just to see the Earth from it.
