I dont understand why you would say
"where eating and drinking was not needed"
I beleive the child would die if it was not fed...
And if this is a question over nature versus nurture...
I beleive Nurture.
The child would be a vegetable.
We learn through interactions with others.
But... I'm not a scientist.

and drinking is not needed then would that child grow up to have any thoughts or personality traits? Or would it be more like a vegetable and all it does is sleep and wakeup?
lol, the reason I said eating or drinking is not necessary is because I didn't want any sort of imagery to be involved at all. If the child eats he/she will see the food and might become something because of it. It's kinda really hard to explain but I'm asking this question as if absolutely NOTHING is present.

Of course it would have thoughts, but it's emotional growth and brain size would be stunted.

Read about Skinner if you want to know more. He did some pretty nasty "experiments" on his kids to test these theories.

If he did it today he'd be in jail for abuse.

everyones reacts to different curcumtances in different ways.. where one person will see living like that in the most critual part of their lives will forever burden them and they will never try to improve or they will see it as a learning curve and build a better life for them and any kids they end up having

Uhm. I dont really understand. I will take a shot though.

I think that if they have no one there with them, and eating and drinking is not a neccesity, then they would probably feel nothing. Never be happy. Also, never be sad. They probably would not know the difference between the two. Maybe they would never wake, just simply stay in a dream like state for as long as they live. creepy, huh?
