Good afternoon,
According to my online Verizon acct page, I'm eligible for New-Every-Two in September. I need to stick with Verizon due to my folks living 1200 miles away and the cost benefits of the "Free IN Calling" plans (they have Verizon and don't want to change) with them, and many of my friends.
Baseline detail one - I currently have a Motorola E815. It can capture & hold a signal better than any phone I've had previously and better than any of my friends currently have.
Baseline detail two - My employer blocks access to external email. For various reasons I like to check mine throughout the day. Currently I use the $2.50/mo Soda*Pop GIN app to read my home email, but replying is ... unpleasant. And I can't forward or do a Reply All via this app.
I have no intention of ever playing music, watching TV or playing games on a hand held device. And after having played around with Verizon Web 2.0 last year, I can't see myself wasting time with web surfing this way again either. Just WAY too many limitations.
So in summary ... any new device I go with needs to first and foremost be a good phone. It needs to get and hold a cell signal as good or better than my E815 if at all possible. I mean, come on ... technology has improved in the past two years, hasn't it? And secondly, I'd like an easier way to access my home email.
So my question is - what should I start looking at? Should I stick with a new "phone" and either Wireless Sync or a different GIN app? Or are any of the newer PDA/SmartPhones actually really any good as phones too? I've got about 3 months to make up my mind and am just trying to figure out where to start my research.
Thanks for any pointers,
