Until now, I didn't think we were doing an outdoor wedding. I have four months to plan this thing, and I'm lost. Thanks to another question I asked, I have decided to do tents. But that's all I have! What else? We are trying to set it for a time that we wouldn't have to serve a meal (trying to save on costs), but I also had my heart set on a sunset wedding. What do I need to consider here? Should we plan on a 3pm wedding? Or will it be too hot in May? What about bugs? Are lights included in a tent rental? Can we do a sunset wedding and not serve dinner? (I doubt it but I'm hoping there's a way around this)
Please help me! I'm so lost, thanks!
East TN, about an hour from the Smokies.

Ok you have a start,
The tent you google "elegant out door tent" you can find a site where you cn see pictures of different tents because some tents are enclosed but of course you will have ot worry about it being to hott and somehow you will need a fan in there , how ever if you have tent thats more open get the light torches that keep bugs away 1. they dont look bad 2. they keep bugs away. 3pm 3 30 is good 1. you dont want it to late 2. if your plannign on having a dance after ward and dinner thatll give you lots of time. sunset is nice but people do want a dinner at a wedding what if you did the dinner while the sun is begingin to go down and then the sunset :) and you can all dance and start a cap fir or somthing lol , it all depends on the place as well, beach, garden, open grass area etc because where its at opens more availabilities
HOPE I HELPED!!

Will this be a summer wedding?

The sun sets much later in the late spring and summer. That would be perfect ... you can get the sun setting on your vows, then do a cocktail and appetizer thing, since this will be after (the usual) dinner time. That would be very appropriate, and save you money as well.

A believe a sunset wedding would be great, but you have to time it right. You need to think about your food service. You should do a 4:00 wedding with an evening meal. As far as would it be hot in May depends where you live. Yes if you live in Florida, no if you live somewhere up north. If it is hot use bug zappers and they make candles and lanterns that will deter bugs make sure those surround your outside tent. Some offer lights for their tent rental, some don't it really depends. The best thing for you to do is contact several rental places in your area get the best price for what your looking for.

ok, so the time change will help you. i had my wedding at 6 pm. i know its not sunset, but the sun is lower in the sky and the temperature will start going down (i dont know where you are, but this was crucial for my wedding; i live in Texas.) so after the ceremony at 6, guest went over to the tent and had cocktails while my hubby and i and the wedding party/family did wedding photos. so, for me, the sun is not completely gone until about 9 pm so starting the ceremony at 6 gave us enough time to serve, eat, toast, and have first dances before we were completely out of light. Additionally, we hung twinkle lights off the rafters of the tent and had ticki lamps in several sports surrounding the tent. my tent was also next to the house where there was a porch, so we had the porch lights on and twinkles hanging. and no, usually lights are not included with tent rentals; however, you may be able to rent lights from the store. hope this helps!
