Ice Age 4 confirmed

Yeah, this is overkill here. I thought they would be finished when they got to the Age of the Dinosaurs but I guess Dreamworks wants to continue.

The ice age already ended in the second movie.

With a subtitle like "Th4w," do they just expect the ice to come back, just to melt again?

The ice age itself was already long over in the movies. There was no need to make any more past The Meltdown.

If they want to make more movies using these characters, at least change the name.

Yeah, but Horton Hears a Who wasn't an original idea; it was based on a book. And Robots was hardly a success. Ice Age is their only successful wholly original concept, and they're running it into the ground. Of the five movies Blue Sky has made, three of them have been Ice Age movies, and now they're doing a fourth. That's not a very good balance if you ask me.

Keep in mind that Ain't It Cool News is not exactly the most reliable source in the world, and that Ice Age 3 tanking will probably kill any potential sequel.

Not ruling it out, of course, but I'd take the news with a sizable grain of salt.

Robots made $260 million worldwide; I wouldn't consider that "hardly a success". Now true, their Ice Age films have made more, but Robots didn't exactly flop. And I don't see why Horton shouldn't count simply because it was based on a book. You'd have to rule out a LOT of films from studios if that were the case.

Anyway, I just don't want the series to become The Land Before Time. 2 was a worthwhile sequel, 3 was a letdown but had a logical closure point; I'd hate for them to milk it, especially if they don't have any ideas.
