PC Specs:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+ (2.16 GHz)
1GB PC3200 DDR RAM
nVidia 6600 256MB
160GB HDD (current XP HDD)
120GB HDD (empty, for Vista)

I currently have Windows XP installed on the 160GB and I am about to go pick up another 120GB internal HDD to intstall Vista on. However the copy of Vista I have is in .iso format on the XP drive because I lost my retail CD and had to download a copy.

So, how do I go about installing Vista on the 120GB drive and then transferring all of my music / videos to it without burning 20+ DVDs of data.

How do I go about burning the Vista image to a DVD? Do I make it a boot disc or do I install from XP?

I have XP and Ubuntu installed on my current 160GB drive so I choose which OS to boot through Ubuntu's 'GRUB' loader...if I install Vista, Vista will overpower the GRUB with it's own boot loader. :gay:

your PC should run Vista nicely. any PC that was a midrange gaming PC in 2005 will handle Vista smoothly, and the latest of today will run faster in Vista than XP (well, except in some games until nVidia and ATI release some decent drivers)

I think I found out what I'm going to do.

I got the 200GB SATA hard drive. I'm going to put all of my files (60+GB) onto it and then install Vista onto the 160GB HD which already houses XP and Ubuntu. I will then delete the Ubuntu partition, install Vista, and re-install Ubuntu so that the GRUB works properly. einstein.jpg

Not really...

I could have been done by now...but Windows isn't recognizing my new hard drive. I can select it in my BIOS but Windows doesn't show shit. This is my first time using a SATA drive and I guess I'm just a fucking retard or something.

you need to toss a file system on there... ntfs or fat.....

right click my computer, manage
disk management

you should see the disk on the right side, click it, format it, use it
