Hi there,

well, i have some problems with my Omnia and i could deal with them, but this last one is making me crazy. it started loosing gsm connection. i am on a local operator, and have no restrictions for outgoing or incoming calls but sometimes i can not make or receive any call. nevermind if the signal level is high or not, the call won't go through. besides, it sometimes loses the signal completely. it does it with some operators, not all of them.

i thought it is a simple configuration that i have to make, or at least, a rom to be flashed.

another detail that may help for the diagnosis, it started losing time also. at any restart, it adds 15 years and 6 months + 11 hours and 30 mins. its weird. i thought it was because of the automatic time update but obviously, its not coz i put in another sim card (another operator) and got the same problem.

guys, what do you think

hi,
thx for the replay,
Actually i didn't. but i discovered the trace of a liquid on the main board and on the shield behind the screen. everything works fine but the network.

It can connect only if the signal level is really strong (5 bars in the indicator doesn't always mean a strong signal)

Have you tried a hard reset? (send + end + reset button with stylus)
You might be lucky then, Otherwise, with the traces of fluid you mentioned, I'm having a hard time thinking this one will get back alive. For some stupid reason, omnia's don't like to swim.

i tried that, but didn't solve the problem. the weird thing is that the network is detected, but somehow, no connection can be made unless the signal is really strong. a firmware update may help?

i've seen on a website that configurable network params can be introduced into a secret menu on Omnia (and many other samsung phones as well). i've found some values but for UMTS support and not GSM networks. it seems to be the same problem that i am experiencing, means available network but no call can be made or, calls go throught only when signal is very strong.

I d love that someone trys to read his values from the debug menu and posts them here so i can copy them to my phone. it may solve the problem
