Would you fix my awkward expressions?
I've read an English book written by a Korean. The writer said that there is no exact English word for "Noonchi" in Korean. "Noon-chi" is similar to "tact". However, it is a little bit different.
A lot of Koreans are raised to think about what others think. It is partly because it is considered impolite to speak what I want frankly.
For example, even though I don't like apples, if someone asks me to eat it, it is hard to reject it. I have to pretend to like it. Even if someone's behavior bothers me, I can't easily talk about it. People are very sensitive to rejections, criticisms and opinions against theirs.
Thus, we have to know what others think and which they prefer or not because they tend not to speak about it honestly. Even without direct communication, we have to read others' feeling and thinking.
