i wrote a poem about how friend are like a garden and flowers and i need help

with this one line? Friends are the ____________; sometimes they hold you up, and sometimes
You lean on them; sometimes it’s just enough to know they will always be near

i need to relate them to flowers being a metaphor and i cant think of anything
