about two years ago, but after many put downs off family I decided to leave it and I just put it away in a file. Btw, they didn't actually read the book I'd written. Since then I have studied maths and computers but I can't forget the book and at the back of my mind the thought of having it published is still there. Now I have found out that my half brother is also writing, but no one puts him down. Should I pursue the idea and try to publish or just forget about it. Either way I am still going to carry on with my present studies.

The first thing to do is get your story out of it's drawer and re-read it. If it's been a few years, you might find that reading it again will give you a different perspective. You might find things wrong, or things that you weren't sure of are now actually good...You might find that your family was right, or you might discover that actually you could have a best-selling novel on your hands.

Getting someone you trust (who ISN'T family) to read it and give you some constructive criticism would also be a good idea...

Then pursue your dream! Definitely carry on with your studies because there are few people who can have the luxury of living solely on their writing...But if you think it's good, GO FOR IT!!!

=)

Also, you might want to talk to your family, maybe your brother or your mum, about why they were putting you down. You might discover that they didn't even realise what they were doing. But don't let them stamp on your dream of publishing your story. Especially if they haven't even read it

=)

Good luck and I hope you make it!

GO FOR IT!
DON'T GIVE UP!!
IGNORE NEGATIVE PEOPLE!!!
SHAME ON THE PUT-DOWNERS!!!!

Do you know any people outside the family with children? Ask them their opinion of it. If they think it would appeal to their kids then what have you got to lose? Contact some publishers and see what happens. Your family don't even need to know about it.

Dont let poeple put you down. Of course you gotta to listen to constructive crittism but you must not let people pull you away from your book. I for an example want to be an actress but people only let children from posh drama schools audition but I still have not given up.

Get a copy of Writer's Market and see who is interested in buying from an unknown author and how to submit it.

You never know unless you try.

I think you should consider deffinatly gettng it published. If its something you really want then you should deffo go for it! ignor what anyone ealse says but like Id carry on doing what your doing aswell incase the book don't come out as successfull but its still worth a try! good luck :) xxx

Go for it!!! Ignore any negative comments in the family - if they were any good at writing or publishing, they'd be doing that and earning money too. Good luck.

There is no harm in trying to get it published. If you don't, then you will always wonder what would have happened? So, you need to do what makes you happy, not what your family wants you to do.

OMG persue it. Kiddo, you family will ALWAYS see you in a particular box with a particular coloured bow on it.

Stuff them and give it a go. At the very worst, you won't die wonderig what could have happened.

Just don't talk to them about it. It's your private course. And your brother has nothing to do with it.

GOOD LUCK HONEY : GO FOR GOLD!
