I would love to shoot my 30 cal. m1 in the great outdoors! Where should I go?

I just got my newly acquired M1 garand from the CMP and I don't want to shoot it at a range with a bunch of restriction on rapid fire, mandatory classes, videos Ect.. Some place where I can walk around a bit. Also, I would like to know how far you have to be away from the public.

In the Dallas TX area specifically Cedar Hill Tx. Thanks!
