I would like to start an electronics business?

I am pretty good with electronics. I currently work for a controls design company. I have a love for building and programming robotics and have a degree in electrical engineering. I would love to use these skills to start my own small business but I can't come up with an idea on what type of business to open. How can I apply these skills?

Sounds like a question I'd like to ask too! ;-) Right up my alley. I've done a lot with digital electronics over the years... designing a ECU for a turbine engine and many other items. A very handy skill to have! There's a lot of possibilities as far as business concepts, but it certainly is tough to come up with them. I've got a few great product ideas of my own, but obviously, I can't share them here. I'm finishing up my BS in Mech. Engineering right now. Always up for discussions with like minded people, feel free to shoot me an email (down in sunny FL).

Some ideas though:

- An electro-mechanical "suit" (yeah, kinda like Iron Man, but more practical). Could be used as an aid to assist those with doing various tasks: lifting, rescue, construction, perhaps military applications, etc.

- Your own line of custom "furniture". But not just any furniture. Like a tv armoire that as a built-in linear actuator to raise up a tv, or a coffee table that automatically adjusts to become something else... say, a computer workstation.

Many other possibilities... green technologies are an exciting industry...?

Fix computers or make amazing electronic devices. May i sujgest the robo-maid? or the robo-butler. or the robo-homework dooer? robo-babysitter? robo-dog? robo-sister/brother?
