I've been catching up on movies nominated at the Oscars and saw this the other day too.

Heard all the hype and was under-whelmed to say the least.

It is a very bleak, and depressing movie, but the performances are good, and overall it's a decent film that is well made.

It's quite surprising with direction as poor as Lee Daniels'; Precious managed to have such strong performances. That's what makes the film a talking point really, and not much else.
