if you haven't sworn in then you are still in control of your career choice.

If you don't want mechanical you can either have your recruiter help you get the paperwork fixed or you can withdraw from DEP.

If you want your recruiter to do some work let him/her know you are willing to draft a paper requesting your release from the DEP program. You are under no obligation until you swear in at MEPS.

electronics after I went to meps already.? I was told that the job choices I made were in the mechanical field, but I just found out that wasn't true and they are actually under electronics, but my paperwork has me in open mechanical, which means I have no chance of getting those jobs, and the only thing the recruiter is giving me for choice is in the mechanical fields. I am being told I can't change it and just accept the jobs in the mechanical field. Is this true?

I haven't gone to basic yet, but my ship date is next month even though the recruiter wouldn't tell me what job I have been slotted for, just that one came up that I am qualified for.

Thank You

Tell your recruiter you're not going to join unless you get the job you want. If he gives you the run-around then say goodbye and that you're not going to join.

He'll end up calling you a couple days later with the job you want.
