with hypothyroid-is VAliable? I had: ER visits regularly with heart attack symptoms and could not breath. I had: anemia, depression, lack of labido, impotense, elevated cholesterol, recurrent headaches, swollen appendages, retained water, swollen legs and ankles-edema, decreased body hair, no energy, hypertension to name a few. My throat has no motility and I have 6 herniated disks. 2 years ago, I was evaluated to fix my throat-I choke when I eat and in my sleep-the food comes up or will not go down. After 2 years, the VA contacted me about performing the surgery-While I was being evaluated for this surgery-I was fed a sandwich with nuclear meds in it-then I was strapped in a machine to do a cat scan-the technician left the room and I began to choke as the sandwich started to come up-I began to aspirate-I yelled for help-I was alone-I forced my way out of the machine as help arrived-they knew I would choke if laid down after eating.
I am on pain meds for the herniated discs. Recently, my meds dose was halved-my pain level went from 3-4 to 5-8. After a few months and numerous complaints, the VA doc cut my meds again and told me to record my pain and would adjust it in a month-it is out of control.
The VA put me on depression meds 2.5 years ago and did not see me for this-no follow up even when I reported suicidal ideations-it was later discovered that the med I was on was counterindicated because I have asthma and it was creating situations that caused me to go to the ER because I could not breath.
If it had not been for a VA social worker treating me for PTSD and an outside the VA DR, I would have died.
I was on 4 meds that cause:weight gain, depression and suicidal idiasions-I gained 70# in a year and had reported suicidal idiasions for more than a year before being able to see a mental health specialist.
Is the VA liable for the treatment and lack of treatment I have been given? Do they have to reimburse me for the outside medical treatment I was given.
I reported this treatment to the VA patient rep and I get no response. I have lab reports that are abnormal and the VA does not tell me their results.
