outdoors, what should I do? I was at a bar with a friend having a good time. There were approximately ten people in the bar and we were all conversing and having a good time. The owner was there also; she was sitting at the bar drinking with her husband. A couple of hours after we arrived, my mother pulled in to drop off my brother, who I was going to give a ride home. I went outside to tell her hi and talked to her for about five minutes. When my brother and I walked inside, the owner spun around on her stool and said, "get out of my bar, we don't need scum like you here". I assumed she was referring to my brother who had a few drinks in him and was a little tipsy, but she kept mumbling, "doing that crap around here... scumbags" and statements along those lines. So I walked up right next to her and her husband, asked the bartender for my tab, paid it and left.
My question is, I feel discriminated against. I believe because she owns the establishment, she has the right to ask me to leave, and as soon as she did I was trespassing. That is why I left. But, because this is a public business, and I did nothing wrong, could she really make me leave? And what her calling us names? Any informed legal information is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
