I was falsely accused of a crime, all of the major news stations and papers reported

the charge.? I wrote letters and called all of the news people and told them that my accuser was lying, the next day my accuser went back to the police and filed a second report admitting she lied. The second police report was ignored by all the reporters and they all kept on doing reports based on the first false report. If fact two years after all the charges were dropped these same papers and reporters did more stories with the same lies. is this libel and are the news people guilty of libel as well?

Sure, go ahead and sue. There is no saying that the case will be won though. The complainant in your original matter may have gone back and changed her story but that doesn't mean that you are innocent. False allegations are made all the time as are false retractions. They may feel they have info and since it's two years later and you say they are still talking about you it must be something serious. I'm not saying you have a case or not. I don't really care. I'm just saying that the press will use any defense they reasonably can so you will have to be prepared for all of these arguments.
