I was caught for shoplifting on $20 worth of merchandise. Are there court fines on

If it goes to court, yes there will be. Usually, the store will be satisfied with all costs, which is more than the value of the merchandise, and banning you from the store, which is still cheaper for them than going to your court appearance. I'd ask to settle, if you can.

I believe you mean you signed an agreement with the store security to pay a fine to them. This is becoming fairly common since it typically costs the store more to send their people to court to testify.
So what they do is ask the shoplifter to pay a fee to help cover the cost of security instead of turning it over to police and the D.A. If this is what you mean you will not be going to court. Read the agreement.

top of the store fines?
While I was detained in the store, the police came. The office gave me a ticket to appear in court. And the store gave me a piece of paper, with an amount to pay $171.40 to the companys lost prevention office.

You should be more worried about having a criminal record than paying fines. A criminal record will haunt you for the rest of your life.

typically, there is restitution, a fine, possible probation or diversion, and possible community service. this is gonna cost you.

The store can't "fine" you. Only the court. And yes, there are court fines......quite a lot, probably probation costs as well as attorney fees.
