i want to work at a restaurant?

i've never worked at a restaurant, and I want to eventually be a bartender, so I need to start as a waitress. i dont' have any experience, but know that if i tell the hiring manager that i don't i won't be hired. how easy is it work at a restaurant like Chilis? What all do i need to know before i go for an interview and what do i need to know before i become a waitress? thanks
