I want to widen the stance of my truck, should i get negative offest rims or use

wheel spacers? Hey, i own a 2003 dodge ram 1500 quad cab. Id like to widen the stance of my truck simply for looks. I plan on purchasing some new rims, can i achieve this look just by buying rims with negative offset? Or should i use wheel spacers instead? Also before i even consider this, id like to know the negative reprocussions, i do haul a fair bit of weight in my box/trailer. Can this cause damage to my truck, or really negatively affect my steering/suspension ect. Any input is greatly appreciated, thanks
