I want to research the history of the building I just moved into. Is there a website

that has information? I want to know about any random things happening in the past with my building (ovens turning on, doors locking that don't even have locks, etc.) Or if there is a way to search local obituaries based on an address. Anything helps :)
i dont think it was an electrical problem.. a person in the same townhouse, different apartment # was getting cereal in the kitchen, 15 minutes later come back and ALL of the stove top burners are on HIGH and blazing red...? just weird coincidences have been happening with absolutely no explanation... will definitely check out the library!! thanks guys :) :)
 
You should go to the local history section of your library. My library has one, I don't know if everyone's does, but its worth a shot. City hall may be able to give you some information also.
 
well i would say your best bet is to go down to the country court house and find out who has owned the house. it will give you names and then you can look up obits from there. also in old buildings doors stick because of the temperature and because they have shifted just slightly as they settled over the years so that when the humidity is right they stick and you think they are locked. but i bet with either hard shoving or a few hours passing they opened right up. the stove thing might be an electrical problem causing surges especially if the stove is one of those old models that don't have the protections for it that the newer ones do. check out the more likely things before you go jumping to a haunted house. ghosts are really much rarer than people think. happy hunting.
