I am in water polo, sophomore year, and i don't find it that much fun anymore. I am really good at it, the best for my age, and have enjoyed it fairly well, but i just don't enjoy it anymore. Its not like it is affecting my school work (I get straight As), but I find it a waste of my time. My parents won't let me quit, though, for the following reasons:

I would just play video games in my free time (I don't think i would)

There are always going to be things in my life i don't like

I should be "Well Rounded" (I guess doing only sports and school is considered well rounded)

I think that I should just quit. I have tried the following reasons on them, but none of them seem to work.

I could focus more on learning in school then just memorizing for the test

I am hurting the team by being lazy and not caring

I could easily find something worthwhile to do in my free time

I would be way more "Well Rounded" if i wasn't so busy with sports, in fact sports are prohibiting me from being well rounded.

I would be so much happier if I didn't have sports, and didn't have to stay up until 10 o'clock every night doing homework.

I really want to quit, but i would like to keep my relationship with my parents good. Any suggestions

Tell your parents that colleges give out scholarships for more than just sports. Would a college want a student who played water polo ok with an A average or a student who was a national merit scholar, with an A+ average, and is envolved in multiple activities besides just one?
Try to tell your parents that this is your life and your going to be the one making all the decisions after high school. If your really sincere, theyll hopefuly listen. Good Luck!
