I am a 24 year old male and have started using an exercise bike at the gym. I do a fairly vigorous workout, burning 300 calories in 24 minutes. I change the resistance, changing from 11 to 15, so I can really get my heart rate going (180).

I do not want to gain any muscle on my thighs, I just want to burn fat from my stomach. I only have about 30 mins a day to workout. I used to use the treadmill but it is harder on my joints. Any ideas how to use the bike without gaining any muscle, just losing fat and burning the same amount of calories? Thanks.

Don't go by the calorie counters on the machiene. Those things are ALWAYS wrong.

You will always gain some muscle with any excercise you do, however it's not going to be a lot.

Plus you have to realise you can't isolate fat loss to one area (your tummy) you just have to do a ton of cardio and just see where it comes off.

Also keep in mind that bikes put pressure on your perinium and your pubic coxogeal muscles, it rubs on those nerve endings a lot and increases the risk for erectile dysfunction. So be careful.

well the answer to your question is kinda hard because you are limited on time butttt.. if you dont want to gain any muscle then turn down the resistance a lot and just keep going at a very easy weight setting

It won't do that much good if your lifestyle isn't compatible. No smoking - no beer/ale - no booze - no drugs - no junk food - no fast food garbage & no sugary sweet soda's. Get on a decent, healthy diet including plenty of boiled or steamed vegetables. Drinks LOTS of water, fruit juices & fat free milk to help keep the traffic flowing. Make sure you eat a good, balanced breakfast daily. You get your energy for the day from your breakfast meal. Get up one hour early every morning & take a BRISK 30 minute walk - then - do the same thing again in the evening after dinner. Get 8 hours sleep. Flip your mattress over so it will level out to give you a good nite's rest. Avoid stress at work & at home.
