and hiking trails.? Any ideas? Please tell me the state and the specific area within that state.

anywhere in new england but my specific choice would be portland maine...any outdoor activity is less than 2 hours from town--whitewater rafting, hiking, camping, beachcombing, sea kayaking, skiing/snowboarding, etc...you can hike mt washington (the biggest mtn in the northeast) one weekend and then hike the rugged maine coast the next...or sit on the beach during the summer..plus portland is a very lively small city with lots of new people--overall its your best bet for a good mix of outdoors and basic everyday life on the east coast

..where else can you see mountains and the ocean right from town??

Any place in New England or upstate New York would fit this criteria.

I live in New Hampshire, 1 mile from the Atlantic Ocean and have wilderness (hardwood forest conservation land) 50 feet out my back door. We have had winters with over 100 feet of total snowfall.

Upstate New York - try Old Forge or further in the Adirondack Mts. Lots of snow - hiking trails - Mt.s

Pennsylvania is full of wilderness areas. Hiking trails or biking. The Appalachian trails are all very nice. I'd also suggest New Hampshire area its full of areas to hike such as Mt. Adams and the Cohos Trail, which is over a 159 miles long. Here's a couple of website that list hiking areas in each state.

New Hampshire does indeed fit the bill but regardless of what I Like Stories said we don't get any where near 100 feet of snow. 100 inches maybe on a snowy year.

near estes park colorado
i think he rocky mountainsin colorado are your best bet.

Vermont/Maine - along the Quebec border. Excellent for wilderness, skiing, hiking trails and in the summer for good, clean camping and boating opportunities.
Plenty of snow. Beautiful area.

Into fishing? excellent ice fishing and summer fishing. Beautiful, fresh fish that you can barbecue lightly. Tasty. Yummmmm.

Another one: Colorodo anywhere along the rocky mountain area. Beautiful spots. There are plenty.
