I deeply respect people in the military. Ive always wanted to become a soldier but now that i have 2 boys and a wife.. is that still realistic

She's partially correct... and that comes from me, a Marine that's been through 2 marriages due to deployments, kids...etc! It also depends on a few other factors like how far you will have to move to live near base, your MOS, how often you deploy.. basically everything I couldn't offer a spouse because I always had to deploy and you can't really be part of a marriage/be a father if you're always deployed. The way I see it though... I married the Corps first..when it's my time, i'll settle down.... If anything, take this... my story, realistic.. is only one of thousands of stories. There are many that do work out.

It is a lifestyle better suited to single people with no kids, but plenty of married people with children are in the military. It is realistic, but it's a very hard life for the family, and for the soldier.

The soldier will be separated from their family and have few opportunities to spend time talking with them. They will miss a lot of what goes on in their life, and will lack the support of their family since they are absent.

The family will not have their husband/father. The children will grow up without your influence, and your wife will have to go things alone, and handle raising the kids herself.
