I'm a junior in college, I'm an Education major with a Co major in History. Times are hard and I think that I may be able to join the military but I don't want to go to Iraq! Is there a way that I can enlist fr the benefits and ensure my safety as well?
Thanx everyone, I have children to take care of thats why safety is such an issue, but my best friend is in the ARMY, and she strongly recommended me enlisting. But it kinda scares me, so thankz!!!

If you don't want to go to Iraq or Afghanistan, then the military isn't for you. I understand your concerns for your safety, but know that pretty much every kind of job is needed in the Middle East. As a female you won't be assigned a combat type job. But know that EVERY servicemember is trained on basic weapons with the idea that, should you come under fire, you return fire and/or defend your position. I am kind of girlie and don't care for weapons training, but I do it because it is required of me, even in my position as a nurse.

If you are a single mother, you cannot enlist (well, not very easily).

you could sign up for the reserves and still be able to finish college, or there are many non combat jobs if you want to get out and see the world but don't want to be in direct combat. id watch out though cause alot of non-combat jobs require an insane amount of back breaking labor, loading airplanes, makeing food, maintenance and vehicle repair. there are also many jobs in the navy that arn't direct combat.
