I want to cancel Movie Central

I guess this is directed at any ExVu CSR's that might be lurking around this board.

Ok, the Sopranos are over.
Mrs. Chumley and myself never watch Movie Central other than the Sopranos. I'm not slagging MC, we just never seem to have it on when any movies are airing that we find the slightest bit interesting.

Here's my current programming package:

Digital Standard $ 31.00
6 Themes & Premium Movies $ 41.00
HD Value Pack $ 10.00

Subtotal $ 82.00

I don't know if this is called the 'Genesis" package or "Legacy Package" or what.
If I cancel the Premium Movies, will I be cutting off my nose only to spite my face? The last time I made a change, a very smooth talking CSR told me that "as a valued long term subscriber, she was giving me the best deal". Any comments?

Your programming comes from the current line up. Removing premium movies will save you $16 per month. No other charges will be added.

I have done the same thing, the only difference for me was that when I got my dish and package the digital standard was $27.00. Once I made a change my digital standard went up to $31.00, but as you the MC went down by $16.00. Well worth it as the movies are not great and I `am still smarting from the months and months of audio sync problems and no aknowledgement of it. Bye Bye MC.

You can save another $5 by getting rid of a theme pack as well. It's worth getting 6 theme packs with movies since it reduces the movie package price (by $3 IIRC.) With no movies, 5 theme packs makes more sense, unless you really watch the channels in all 6.

Removing Movies Central (also removes Superstation WSBK-WPIX-KTLA-TBS) will take a 16$ off your bill

If you have a contract and get a price guarantee you would also loose that price guarantee

The channels will only be removed on the first day of your next billing cycle

Thanks, folks for all the replies. Your answers de-mystified things nicely for me.

With the Sopranos gone, I imagine that a lot of U.S. subscribers have canceled their HBO packages. Their aren't a lot of must-see series on these days.

Once again, thanks.

I called to cancel but I was convinced, for the moment, that there will be better movies coming. So far, I have not seen any better movies. I am sick of B movies that are repeated over a 100 times. They barely have enough content for one channel yet they have six! I tried a few of the series that I had not tried before but so far I am not convinced of the value.

I am inclined to cancel it.

The only thing I have watched on MC this month is the Sopranos. There was what 1 new HD movie this month? If the July announcement doesn't step it up considerably I'm out.

I had a similar situation, this time with a wireline provider, not Bell BTW.
Said they looked at my usage patterns and this new package would save me money.
Sure as $h1t, ended up costing me a fair bit more and when I tried to get my old package back, they said sorry, that package is no longer available.

Just a scam to get subs off of packages that were good deals for subs and not the company.
Unfortunately, they eventually get their way by introducing new programs only available in new packages, so be very careful about what you thing you are getting.

He will certainly be able to get jhis old package back...unless it was a Legacy package!

Since downgrades affects our stats and therefore our bonusthe agent will certainly attempt to know why you want to cancel and what you are watching. He will certainly try to "change" the movies for other themes, or dish care, to get a combo at the same value and same himself a downgrade. If you refuse what he offers he will put the downgrade for the first day of your next billing cycle

The only difference you see compared to your previous rate is a 4$ increase if you had a price warranty due to the increase in February. All price warranties are removed as sson as a client downgrades

Yet, you are an HD subscriber.

I'd invite you to look again. As I understand it, you get two , full-time, 24/7 HD movie channels in MC1 and MC2 (or is it Avenue?) in HD.

In a million years, I wouldn't watch Over the Hedge yet, here I am, enjoying it anyway. Durham County may not be The Sopranos but it's gotten rave reviews ... and is Canadian, to boot.

If you and Mrs. Chumley head out to the movies ... no way you'll spend less than $25 for one evening, let alone the $16 your MC subscription provides for an entire month. If you invest 15 min on the MC website, I'd expect you'd find at least 2 things every month you'd actually enjoy seeing ... commercial free. That ought to address the value issue and not upset the arcane rules Bell devises to deprive you of "contracted guarantees" on the balance of your subscription.

While it's always important to try and understand why a customer wants to downgrade, all departments have save teams for sure, but when the apparent primary goal of every Bev agent is to maintain and upsell a sub, something is being lost where you are there to serve the customers wishes with the least amount of hassle.

I find it extremely disrespectful to be challenged when I all want to do is call in a make a change.

I know other 'utility' providers can do it and some earn my business each and every day by their customer friendly policies of allowing instant package changes and no hassle up/downgrades.
It's THAT type of business model that keeps me coming back for more, voluntarily.

And as for MC, it's too bad TMN wasn't national, their offerings are way better.

I notice Poet that you live in Toronto and use Rogers. Which leaves me wondering why you are in a Bev forum shilling for MC which you could only get illegally?

TMN seems to be a some what better provider than MC.

I can't get MC; never said I did. I'm not shilling for MC either; in fact the comments were more generally about suggesting this HD customer can get better value out of his ExpressVu subscription by looking at things from a different angle.

Perhaps MC is much worse than TMN; I can't comment directly. Nonetheless, the gist of my comments still apply since MC is the product available to "The Chumley's".
