I want buy the kind of bike with the thin tires that go really fast. wat are some good brands and wat kinds. i want it for excercise and to go on long rides with it. thanks

It sounds like you are a novice but have lots of enthusiasm (which is the way I was when I started) I would go to roadbikereview.com look under reviews on the top left side... those reviews are based on people who actually purchase the bike (more then just one person)

The site has forums too for beginners.

You will love it. Good luck

Go to the store (a real bike store) and check out some bikes. Speak to the specialist there and see what he thinks. Sit on them, see how they feel. Write down a few makes and models you like and fit your budget, then go see what people think on sites like the one mentioned above.

You should buy a Jamis because I just bought one and it rides very nicley and I haven't had any problems so far.

The name of the bike really does not matter here for you. The reason that it does not matter is this: You are obviously new to road cycling and you make it very clear in your question. Second is this you need an entry level bike made by Schwinn, GT , Raleigh, Giant or Specialized and a few others....in the $500 to $800 price range at most and most all brands have something entry level for most any budget that will be Sora 8 speed equipped at best (maybe 105 in the $800 range) You dont necessarily want a road bike in this price range to use to do more than 50 miles on at a time as it is not well equipped to handle this sort of ridding for longer stints (though it would work) You need an entry level bike and anything dept store road bike would work but you get what you pay for.....JUNK on wheels! Dont kill yourself over the name on the side of the bike as it is not worth the effort and whatever you do end up with will let you know weather or not you will continue to ride or not. Dont let lack of quality be your deterent as there are much better bikes out there and any price range that you fall into will be fine to start with and you may be able to recoup some of the initial expense later on down the road as you learn what other good bikes are out there for you later on. Get something now to get you rolling and do your homework now! Here is one that would be a good start for you: http://www.performancebike.com/shop/profile.cfm?SKU=26721&subcategory_ID=3040 and since you dont say if you are female or male then here is another one: http://www.performancebike.com/shop/profile.cfm?SKU=25556&subcategory_ID=3040 and if neither one of these do it for you then look at the entire site and see what fits. You dont have to buy from Performance but this would be a good way to start looking. bikesdirect.com is another but since you are new to the sport then I suggest that you NOT buy a bike online as fit is important and there are several other factors to consider too when buying a bike and you cannot feel, sit on or test an online bike!
