I want to burn a BMW Navigation DVD but when I did i does not work in my car help?

The file I have is an NRG, I burn the file using a DVD+R DL, as an image dvd at 4 the min. speed, when I loaded into the car is says error. How can I burn the file so it would work? Do I have to convert it into ISO file, or do I need to use a dvd-r dl?? Please HELP
