Hey, thanks for opening my question.
I'm a college freshman majoring in psychology, and I hope to become a therapist. I've looked through many online resources, and they all suggest to find volunteer positions working with people with disabilities. This is definitely something I'm willing to do, but I can't find anything in my area that requires volunteers.
I went to my academic counselor, and she suggested that I apply for a job at an Aspergers camp next summer (I have 2 cousins with Asperger Syndrome).
This sounds like a job that I would enjoy - I like to help people, I'm a patient person, I like kids, I love the great outdoors. The only problem is that this camp is highly selective of counselors, and I'm not sure if I'm qualified.
They require community service as well as work experience. I have held one job for the past 3 years and have no other work experience. As for community service, I have nothing and can't find any volunteer organizations in my area, as I previously mentioned.
Could someone give me tips or ideas? :S
