I want to be a lawyer but I've heard so many negative comments and now I am afraid...

If you want to be a lawyer, go for it.

One of my professors (the one that teaches ethics) is a lawyer. He's also well known in area politics and running political campaigns. You will find a way to earn a good living and keep your integrity.

If you are any good, there are plenty of jobs, and most lawyers, while they may not all become wildly wealthy, do very well. As for compromising your integrity, you need to find an area of the law that works for you. There are some areas, such as criminal law and family law, which sometimes bother those who are bound to represent their clients diligently, regardless of how their clients are behaving. On the other hand, there are areas of the law in which you might be doing things like reviewing contracts or policies, and it would be hard to challenge your integrity in that way.
