i figure id pursue ballroom dancing as a side career when i start college i want to know, do you think it is hard? im not starting college for a couple months im thinking of going into training. so is it hard, tough competition?
i have dance experience! i was wondering si it hard to instruct people i d ballroom dance lol!

i do ballroom dance, and it can be very easy, or very hard, depending on what level you want to go to, what level your going to teach, whether or not you want to be competitive, and if you can keep tempo, move your hips, remember steps, ect ect ect
keep in mind, ballroom dancing can be very expensive! lessons can run up to 200 hundred dollars, as can proper shoes, which you'll need.
competitive dancing is very hard and veeeery expensive, i wouldn't recommend it, if your not that committed, but ballroom can be really fun! i'd say try a class and decide if its suited to you, and if you like it, keep going. Ballroom tends to not be very well known, so the studios may be smaller (therefore harder to get a job at), but you never know, that may help!
good luck!

I'll answer your question correctly! I am a part time ballroom instructor at arthur murray for about a year now. You get trained for free so you wont be paying anything. Don't listen to the person that replied first. Obviously they only take lessons as a hobby. First... It is a lot of work, I am not going to lie. as part time, you dont have too much time when you get in to plan out your lessons and get everything situated, for the first 2 or so months you wont be teaching, just strictly dancing and learning all of bronze 1 and 2, because you need a heads up on people coming in. You do need to dedicate yourself to the job or it wont work out. You get good money, places will give you between 10 and 20 dollars a lesson that you teach, and trust me it adds up if you get a good student base. I teach like 15 lessons a week and get 172.5 for just lessons on a weekly paycheck which is great side money considering I have a fulltime job as well. Being an instructore IS A GREAT job while you are going to college. And dont get frustrated. It will take time until you start to feel comfortable with your dancing and technique. atleast 6 months before you are like "wow im starting to feel it", could be less depending on your natural ability. I wish you the best of luck, I hope work out for you. Try for a local arthur Murray, they pay good, train well and you get to do competition with students, work with PROFESSIONALS, have training weekends with other arthur murrays in surrounding states. They make you feel awesome and teach you amazing sales skills and how to work with people. P.s. you can get good shoes cheap. Helena is OVER STATING things, its not that bad at all. I AM A certified instructor AND KNOW fisrt hand! Good Luck to ya!!! and have fun!
